Ingredients:
- 12 mozzarella cheese sticks
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- Cooking spray or vegetable oil, for frying
- Marinara sauce, for dipping
Directions:
- Cut the mozzarella cheese sticks in half to create 24 shorter sticks. Place them in the freezer for about 10-15 minutes to firm up.
- In three separate shallow bowls, prepare your coating stations:
- Bowl 1: All-purpose flour.
- Bowl 2: Whisked eggs.
- Bowl 3: Combine breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, dried oregano, and dried basil. Mix well.
- Remove the mozzarella sticks from the freezer.
- Take one mozzarella stick and dip it into the flour, coating it evenly. Shake off any excess flour.
- Dip the floured stick into the beaten eggs, ensuring it’s coated completely.
- Finally, roll the stick in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to make sure the breadcrumbs adhere well. Place the coated stick on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Repeat the process with the remaining mozzarella sticks.
- Once all the mozzarella sticks are coated, heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully place a few mozzarella sticks into the hot oil using tongs. Fry for about 1-2 minutes or until they turn golden brown. Be sure not to overcrowd the pan; fry in batches if needed.
- Remove the fried mozzarella sticks using a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
- Serve the mozzarella sticks hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
- Enjoy your homemade Mozzarella Sticks as a delicious appetizer or snack!
Note: Be cautious when frying as the cheese inside the sticks can get very hot.
